It was the day after Christmas when Kyle proposed to Maggie in 2015, so it was only fitting that we had their engagement session while they were in the DC area during Christmas break. We decided on charming Georgetown, knowing downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods would still have all their Christmas decorations up. Maggie joked that they would use one of these photos for their 2017 Xmas cards, when they will then be husband and wife! Maggie and I first bonded over chatting about New England, she went to college in Boston and Kyle still has family in Massachusetts. Her and Kyle ended up in San Francisco, but originally met through an app called Hinge, which connects you with people who have mutual Facebook friends. One mutual friend was a guy Kyle worked with, who also happened to be the brother of Maggie’s best friend. After doing some of her own research and Kyle passing her height requirement, they went on their first date and the rest was history.
Kyle proposed while hiking the Knob, one of their favorite spots on Cape Cod, the day after Christmas. Kyle’s brothers held people back, without Maggie knowing, so they had the place to themselves and even one of them hid in the bushes so he could snap some photos. Once they got back to his parents house, her whole family and best friend was there as a surprise, how sweet!
We all hit it off immediately after having met for the first time, these two are my kind of couple! They are laid back, down to earth, super sweet couple, who just want everyone to have a great time on their big day. I could not be more excited to shoot their Wedding at Shadow Creek in March!
They had mentioned to me one of their first dates was kayaking, so naturally we had to take a photos with all the kayaks that I imagine were on break for the winter.
I just loved Maggie’s ring and the side shot!
Maggie and her dad are both big runners, they used to run by the canal on the waterfront for many years, so it was special we got to take photos there!
