This Wedding had it ALL! A vineyard,
Seneca Lake NY, details + diy, a sperry tent, a huge storm, then a rainbow, a studebaker truck, and a super fun bridal party. And I cannot forget to mention the insanely in love bride and groom, which were such a joy to photograph! Kate you were absolutely stunning and your larger than life personality was infectious!
Flatt Rock Wine Cellars Vineyard | Seneca Lake NY
Kate and Nate are huge wine lovers, so naturally they got married on a vineyard, Flatt Rock Wine Cellars, which is owned by Nathan’s Mom and Step-fathers. 2015 is year 3, which is significant because it is the first year you can bottle the juice and make wine. Cocktail hour was food and wine pairings, the bride and groom’s favorite wines around the Finger Lake (Seneca Lake), 4 of the 5 wine makers were at the wedding!
The Wedding
Kate, Nathan, their friends and family all helped to make this day happen, this is DIY at its finest, done right! They built the tables, the centerpiece crates, made the escort cards, table numbers, and wine charms. Kate and Nathan started collecting the vintage china a long time ago starting with Nathan’s Grandmother, then completing the collection with Family and estate sale shopping, every piece is something they picked out together and was then used for their guests.
How they met
Kate and Nathan met on
Match.com, which is exactly how my boyfriend and I met! After many emails and a couple texts, they met for brunch on a
Sunday morning, Nathan was late, so naturally Kate gave him grief, only to realize she really enjoyed his company. Within the hour, they already had plans for a second date and the rest is history, as they say. The second date was better planned, dinner at a quaint restaurant on Wine on Vine in Lexington, KY (where Kate is from), then some Starbucks later on in the night … and their first kiss. Kate remembered that it rained that night, which seems fitting that on their Wedding day, a huge storm rolled in during the reception. Crazy winds, sideways rain, scary looking dark clouds … but the party continued and Kate never let it bother her, in fact she told me, she would dance in it and wanted me to capture it. Now thats my kind of girl! 😉 Well, we didn’t get that chance because after the first dance, the storm passed through quickly and then a rainbow emerged … seriously, how perfect? I can say without a doubt, these two are perfect for each other, and they are going to share a long, happy, laughter filled life.
How amazing are these wedding favors? Pashminas!
Kate’s ‘something old’ is her Great-Grandmothers pearl necklace, which she used as a bracelet, a gift from her father’s 3 sisters and mom
