Cherry Blossoms, OH MY, need I say more? My boyfriend Robby and I caught the very last day of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC and according to the news (and my eyes) it was the best day for it.  The Cherry Blossoms where in full bloom, the weather was perfect and every time the wind blew, it was raining petals, it was drop dead gorgeous!  When I moved here to Richmond, it didn’t even register that I would be so close to DC, and I had only been there once in the the two years I’ve been living here now.

We made a day out of it, parked near the Memorial Bridge and rode our bikes all around, and I now have a new found appreciation for bike messengers, weaving in and out of crowds and avoiding getting hit by a car. =)  I never take out my camera just for myself and I need to do it more often! It was so fun being a tourist for the day amongst thousands of whom all have their own camera (naturally I was scoping out everyones equipment) but each person sees things differently through the lens and I have no doubt all of our photos look completely different.  Isn’t that the beauty of photography?

A pleasant surprise when we were there was a Photography exhibit “Unintended Journeys,” images from natural disasters and global climate change within the last decade.  It was very powerful and incredibly heart wrenching. DSC_5116 DSC_5119 DSC_5122

Robby is still getting used to my Nikon, he shoots Canon (don’t worry, I’m converting him) so yes I know this picture of me is blurry, but its his favorite and I like it too! Sometimes images don’t always have to be “tac sharp” in focus, I’m laughing and its genuine, it sums up how amazing the day was and what a good time we had!

This was so AMAZING! We were about to head back, when we noticed a guy making huge bubbles! I don’t even know what to call it, but I’m sure there’s a name for it.  I think his rig was homemade, but the kids were going buck wild for it!! It was quite the site to see and by some miracle, I hope this man see’s this blog, so I can give him these photos! He was brining such joy to these kiddos (and their parents too!) DSC_5233-2 DSC_5242 DSC_5244 DSC_5246 DSC_5251 DSC_5259 DSC_5260

On the way back to the car, we found this small field of flowers right after the Memorial Bridge, it was just perfect.  Check out my stud of a boyfriend =)DSC_5317 DC2 DSC_5349

I hope you enjoyed our DC adventure!! xoxoDSC_5153
