Shockoe Bottom Engagement Session

I had so much fun with Sarah and Andrew for their engagement session in Shockoe Bottom, which is just east of downtown rva, along the James River. We started at Shiplock Park, then to the canal walk, and ended with a celebratory beer at Southern Railway Taphouse. It seemed fitting since they both love exploring the city together and checking out all the local breweries. It was definitely unseasonably warm on this fall day, the leaves were starting to change, and their outfits couldn’t have been more perfect. Andrew and Sarah met in Blacksburg after graduating from Virginia Tech, so naturally we also had to get some shots in their jerseys since they are both huge Hokie fans.

They met through a mutual friend and it wasn’t until about a year and half later of being friends, that they started dating. Sarah was hesitant at first to move forward with dating because she didn’t want to ruin their friendship, but once things were official, things moved quickly and they both knew that it was the real deal. Sarah’s family knew that Andrew was the one and were eager for them to get hitched right away.

After a year of dating, they bought a house together and Sarah made plans to move back to Richmond from Northern Virginia where she was teaching, after the school year ended. She was excited to move back to the city where they both grew up and start their life together. This past August on the site of their new home, still under construction, they arrived to check out the progress while workers were still there. Andrew marched through the lot until he found a place where they could be alone, he got down on one knee and proposed. I can’t wait for their April wedding at the Boathouse at Sunday Park!
