Anyone that knows me knows I am a HUGE Dog Lover! Since moving to Richmond VA I signed up to become a volunteer at the Richmond SPCA and it has been such a rewarding experience. They have saved over 31,046 pets’ lives since becoming no-kill in January 2002. Each week I get to use my skills and passion for photography by capturing the playful personalities and soulful eyes of these dogs and cats in search for their forever home. Their reasons for coming to the shelter are all different and although I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, some pet owners should never be allowed to have them. It seems as if stories of animal abuse, neglect, and dog fighting reigns, just to name a few are always showing up on the daily news. I always said if I wasn’t a Photographer, I would be an advocate for animals and would love to buy a farm with 10+ acres and rescue animals for a living. Who knows, maybe it will happen one day! I am obsessed with the reality show Pit Bulls & Parolees on Animal Planet, have you seen it?
For now I’m doing what I can, one picture at a time. Below are some of my favorite shots, some of them have already been adopted, but many are still there, so if you are thinking about adopting, definitely visit the Richmond SPCA or your local Shelter TODAY!
And I am also participating in the 11th Annual Richmond SPCA Dog Jog and 5K Run on March 16th, click here to donate and show your support!
