Scuffletown Park is one of Richmond’s pocket parks, a tiny park with long narrow stretches of grass surrounded by beautiful plants, shrubs, tucked away in an alley across Strawberry Street Market. This is truly a hidden gem, I had never even heard of it before meeting with Libby and Brian, but I knew their Wedding was going to be special because of all the sweet details that really express who they are as a couple. I mean, their professor who officiated the ceremony used tons of Lord of the Rings references and the wedding programs were entitled “The Fellowship of the Ring,” I loved it! MY PRECIOUS!
There were a ton of different locations for this wedding day, but Libby + Brian are so laid back and trusted me to do my job, everything went so smoothly and of course it helped to have the fabulous planning by Wood Grain & Lace Events. They both got ready at Linden Row Inn and we also had their first look there, in the garden courtyard, which was so sweet! I had seen Libby’s Maggie Sottero dress from before for her bridal portraits, paired with her mothers lace veil, she was equally as stunning on her wedding day. I loved the navy and mint colors the bridal party were wearing, and the pops of orange and peach through out the day.
The whole bridal party hopped on the trolley and the first stop was The Carillon for portraits and then the VMFA for family formals. After that, it was off to the beautiful ceremony at Scuffletown, then, off to the cocktail hour and reception at The Bolling Haxall House. We got all photos done beforehand because it was very important for Libby + Brian to get to enjoy their cocktail hour, especially when you have Doctors of Jazz playing in the parlor, they were so good! I loved all the details of this wedding, one of my favorites was having guests sign “The Southerner’s Cookbook,” on their favorite recipe as their guest book.
One of the reasons I love shooting weddings is because even though you may not know any of their guests and family, you feel like you do because of all the emotions shared throughout the day. There was so much love, it is so evident and I love being able to document that and truly being a part of this momentous day!
