Katie and Mike are that laid back, love to have fun couple who everyone loves. I remember the first time I met them shortly after I moved here nearly 4 years ago and I heard about how they first met at VCU. Mike took her on their first date to Lee’s Fried Chicken and the rest is history! Perhaps the true test of their relationship came when Mike moved to New Orleans after accepting a job at Tulane, while Katie stayed here in Richmond to finish her schooling. It wasn’t long before she realized she needed to be with him and then they began their new life together in Nola, even adopting an adorable dog and appropriately naming her Delachaise. When visiting RVA for the holidays in 2014, Mike proposed to Katie on top of Libby Hill with the Richmond skyline in the background, he even had the whole thing secretly photographed and the photos are adorable! As fate would have it, little did they know then, they would be moving back to Virginia nearly a year later.
On their wedding day, we had beautiful weather and while the girls got ready at the historic Linden Row Inn, the boys enjoyed a few beers at the new Stone Brewery. Katie was so calm the whole day and wasn’t nervous until it was time for the first look with her husband to be. The only thing that separated them was the huge sliding doors, and as he opened them revealing his bride, his reaction was priceless. They radiate true love for one another and it sure was a special thing to witness and document. After that, the whole bridal party hopped on the trolley and headed to Monument Avenue for some gorgeous portraits and I must say, they were one great looking group!
The ceremony was held at Reveille United Methodist Church, but before that started, we got to capture a first look with Katie and her father in the stunning garden. A little disclaimer, I will say, Katie’s dad and Mike win the award for best genuine reaction to first looks! After the intimate ceremony, it was party time and off to The John Marshall Ballrooms! I’ve shot there a handful of times now and I will never get sick of shooting in ballrooms with the high ceilings and chandlers, it is so timeless. The Sage green and champagne colors were just perfect for the reception details and I was obsessed with the succulents, I think this should be a wedding requirement 😉
I can’t say enough great things about this wedding, it really was such a joy and everyone had such an amazing time, Katie and Mike are surrounded by some pretty amazing family and friends. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you two, congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Fisher!
